The sister branch of Ondas Community, Ondas Cultural and Movement Arts, is a designated 501(c)(3) public charity.

The Ondas CMA Community Programming campaign is dedicated to offering free and low-cost community programming. Currently these programs include our youth-focused Spring Festa, Community Day, a Book Club, and Creative Community Nights. 

A liability waiver must be signed vefore participating in any movement classes, and all minors must be accompanied by a guardian.

Community Offerings

Community Day is a chance to come see the various classes offered at Ondas Community, and we also bring in local and visiting instructors to enhance our community. We are located at 1800 McPherson Ave, 76110.

We have a fantastic line-up of by-donation classes – suggested donation is $10 per class, but no one is turned away for lack of funds!

10:45 –  Gentle Stretch & Strength – This class focuses on core engagement, functional movement, and body weight strength exercises.

12:00 – Boxing with Lawrence – Footwork, cardio, and confidence all come together in this intro-level class!

1:00 – Afro-Cuban Drumming and Dance with Rene and Fracys – Join this edition’s special guest instructors for an incredible treat, a combined dance and percussion class!

2:45 – Capoeira Regional Roda – A short warm-up followed by the live music and joyful celebration that is Capoeira Regional!

4:15 – Pencak Silat with Jherich – A classic self-defense class that uses the art of Silat from Indonesia.


While the bookclub focuses on works by Women of Color, each new selection is voted on by the group. The goal for 2024 is 8 books, meeting every 6-7 weeks throughout the year in a friendly and inclusive setting which welcomes all voices and perspectives. We meet in-person and via zoom for your convenience.

2024 Spring Festa

Professor Dentinho of Filhos de Bimba will be visiting us again this April as we celebrate our new students with a Festa de Batizado Workshops in Capoeira Regional, Berimbau, Atabaque, and Folkloric Dance, as well as Educational Lectures about the History and Culture of Bahia.

Ondas Community serves a number of Title 1 schools throughout FWISD with after school programs in the Afro-Brazilian Arts. Each spring, these programs partner with Fort Worth Capoeira – Filhos de Bimba to provide our school students with an amazing end-of-year program featuring workshops and a cultural show, and to provide our in-house community with a chance to deepen their understanding of the Afro-Brazilian Arts and Capoeira Regional, as well as recognizing new students in a traditional Festa de Batizado!

Featured Guest: Professor Dentinho. From Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Prof. Dentinho is not only a formado of Filhos de Bimba, he is also a student and teacher of history and culture, and recently recieved his Masters in African Diasporic Culture. He is responsible for the Plataforma núcleo of Filhos de Bimba in Salvador.
