Book Club

We are gathering YOUR imput for our 2027 Bookclub reads! Take a few moments and let us know what you would like to read next year.

The Ondas Bookclub was formed in 2016 to create a space for ideas, worries, and joys to be shared in community, fostering an organic intellectual space that welcomes all experiences, and curated by founder “Profa. Borboleta,” who holds a PhD in Comparative Literature, Critical Theory and the Afro-Latin World. We alternate fictional and non-fiction works, featuring the voices of Women of Color, to gain perspective through this cultural lens of literature.
Most selected reads are available through your local library – which we highly reccommend you use, or if you buy, please find a local independant bookstore! The goal for each year is around 6 books, meeting about every 7-8 weeks throughout the year in a friendly and inclusive setting which welcomes all voices and perspectives. For maximum inclusivity and accessibility, there is an option to join in-person or on-line for each meeting.
We kindly ask that you register to let us know that you will join us.

Little Fires Everywhere.

by Celeste Ng

Recently adapted for a TV miniseries by Hulu, this novel is a powerful story about motherhood, the intensity of teenage love and the danger of perfection.

This is the second novel by American author Celest NG, published in 2017. Set in Shaker Heights, Ohio, the novel follows two families in the 1990’s, brought together by their children, and touches on race, class and motherhood through the inclusion of an interracial adoption.
