Meet the Team

Dr. Lindsay Puente serves at the Executive Director of Ondas CMA. In the process of earning her PhD (UC Irvine) in Comparative Literature with a focus on the Afro-Latin World, she was introduced to Capoeira Regional. While teaching Latin American Studies at UARK, she opened her first school of Capoeira. In Texas, she founded Fort Worth Capoeira in 2014, which grew to Ondas Community in 2020, and Ondas CMA in 2023. In addition to her service to the community, she is an avid hiker and backpacker, and a lover of cats. She also teaches at TCU in both the School of Classical and Contemporary Dance, and in the Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies Program.

Ms. Cassandra Mackie serves as the Ondas CMA President, bringing with her a lifetime of public service and community building. A research librarian by trade, her skills and educational connections make her an invaluable board member. In 2023, she completed the Ondas Instructor Training Program in order to further the mission of providing cultural arts access to underserved youth. Ms. Mackie is essential in coordinating a number of the Ondas CMA programs.

Ms. Keyera Lee is the Vice-President and Secretary of Ondas CMA and has been invested in learning and sharing cultural movement arts for over 10 years. She began teaching in the Ondas Youth Programs in 2021, and has blossomed in her leadership skills and confidence through these programs. Ms. Lee traveled to Brazil for the first time in 2018 with an Ondas Cultural Trip, and has since learned to enjoy the joys of international travel.

Ondas CMA seeks to engage and serve Fort Worth by providing high-quality programming with teaching artists who represent our communities. Our paid teaching artists are local community members who have been promoted and nurtured into these leadership positions through the Ondas Instructor Training program. The Ondas Team understands the centrality of community and practice in cultural arts, and programming focuses on practical experiences that include participant interaction with materials, the teaching artists, and the other participants as well.
